I have a center channel speaker (from another manufacturer) and have been looking at Eclipse and FIR-designer and trying to get my head around what s/w based solutions exist. It has high and low bi-wire inputs.

I picked up an Octo Research DAC8 Pro (8 Channel DAC).

The H/W options like the MiniDSP Flex do 2 in and 4 out, but I think I might need 2 in and 8 out…

  • Center h/ilo (Channels 1/2)
  • Subs (Channels 3/4)
  • And if I wanted to try L/R channels which might be a w-way bi-wire or even a standard 2-way speaker. (Channels 5-8)

A list of what to look at would be dandy. (J-River?, etc)

Minidsp option are OK but limited in their capability for processing FIR filters. For this you will require a PC and software based convolution.

Software for generating the filters:

Acourate
https://www.audiovero.de/en/acourate.php

Audiolense
https://juicehifi.com/

There are others

J River or Roon can use the filters for playback. You can also playback through Acourate.
