I’ve had several hours with the amp. Honestly, I’m amazed at how much of a step up it’s been in my system. I’m transitioning from a Marantz PM-10, and previous to that had a full Benchmark setup. With all setups I’ve used a pair of JBL 4349s. DACs and turntables have changed a few times.

First, the soundstage has dramatically increased in depth and cohesion. The sound is now more enjoyable from every location in the room, not just the sweet spot.

Second, the bass control has dramatically improved. I purchased an RME ADI-DAC 2 FS so I could use its loudness feature to increase the bass at lower listening levels. With the P482 I no longer have to use the loudness feature because the bass is tangible across all listening levels.

I’d always hoped I’d be able to squeeze just a bit more out of these JBLs—your P482 has proven that they had more to give. I’m experiencing a renewed sense of realness, and it just sounds fantastic.

The amp arrived this afternoon and I’ve hooked it up for a quick listen. All working perfectly. Very clean neutral uncoloured tone and good soundstage. Working really well with my Dynaudio speakers and Benchmark DAC.

Colin P282 Amplifier

The performance of P481s is absolutely stunning. I can surely say the P481s are better than my Pass Aleph 0 mono blocks in terms of transparency and power handling. I now have a punchier and yet tighter bass, a better overall tonal balance, more natural upper mid range, more realistic voice especially female and naturally extended treble. Well, they just sound great. Also, I love the fact that, compared to the class A amps, they just never generate as much heat and need smaller footprint.
