I agree that you need to get as much feedback as possible from listeners. Do you have a local audiophile club within your area where you could demo your speakers? A cool test setup would be if you had an external xover adjustment that you could adjust live while listeners are evaluating the sound. Once dialed in, then freeze the bill of materials and you are good to go:)!

PS
How do the Kuro compare with the Ukkokken in the bass regions?

....eeerrrmm..........in my experience that probably is not a good way to go. The members talk and influence each other. At least with the show its a succession of random people over the three days providing feedback. We use the show feedback really to confirm the technical design, measurements and our own subjective opinions. We wouldnt use it as definitive information to set the speaker response.

So, what does you subjective feedback tell you when you compare the two tweeters?

The Purifi is slightly brighter and has a wider but more diffuse soundstage. Better? I would say different.

This is why we have been taking our time with this tweeter and not leaping to replace the SB unit. People really like the SB and there is a compelling argument to say "dont fix what ain't broke".

But what can be noticed here is that we have the same level of quality with aluminium…
Purifi… amazing.
Slightly Brighter …perhaps not for me sometimes I like to listen close to the speakers.

But isn't a diffuse soundstage generally most preferable?

Not really, it is one of those things that is down to preference, there is no right or wrong answer on this one.

Although many like the wider soundstage of a wide dispersion, some prefer the more precise placement of a narrower dispersion. Also it can be argued that narrower will work better in some rooms that have little side/ceiling diffusion/absorption.

Or rooms that are asymmetrical, in which dispersing more sound horizontally accentuates the imbalance.

1. WiiM Ultra - Mola Mola Makua - Apollon NCx500+SS2590 - March Audio Sointuva AWG
2. LG 77C1 / WiiM Pro - Marantz SR7005 - Apollon NC502MP+NC252MP - Monitor Audio PL100+PLC150+C265 - SVS SB-3000
3. PC - RME ADI-2 DAC FS - Neumann KH 120 II
4. Phone - NiceHCK Octave - Truthear Pure

Good point; though still not as important as how wide do you want/ need your listening position/ positions to be

While of course you can’t tweak directivity, unless I’m wrong it’s usually easier for all of us to tweak the tonal balance by the angle of the speakers; and for some with PEQ …

(Which I say because of the difference in in the tonal balance between the two tweeters)

I guess the only way to tweak directivity is in a dedicated listening room where you have absorption panels you can move freely and tune with more or less side absorption. For example, if the directivity is too wide, then increasing side absorption would counteract it.

Hi
The directivity is set by the speaker, you cant change that. Thats why its so crucial to get it right. Whilst there is no definitively answer for how wide, it must be smooth as possible.

However you are absolutely right that the nature and level of reflected sounds are influenced by the absorption and diffusion in the room.

Yes, maybe I used the wrong term: not that the "directivity" itself of the speaker would be changed, but rather the effect of it on the listening position.

And forgot to mention but of course the panel needs to absorb the frequency one is looking to absorb from the extra horizontal dispersion. Then there is a whole lot of information off topic on how to build absorption panels, material, density, thickness, distance to the wall, etc.
